Skills & Expertise

I will be the first to admit that I have an unconventional background. Most people who have been in the business for as long as I have tend to end up specializing in one thing or another. But I have always strived to learn new things and gain as much experience as possible.

I began my career at an integrated communications agency, handling the advertising, public relations, direct mail, and copywriting for business-to-business clients. I went on to a large public relations agency where I continued to work in business-to-business before branching out into consumer, corporate, and technology. From there I moved into management and marketing, in-house for a professional services firm. Then I worked as a consultant before returning in-house, this time as the Marketing Director of a nonprofit, before rekindling my freelance practice. Now I am working for another nonprofit, where I have been showcasing my media relations and digital communications skills.

As I am often asked about what skills and expertise I bring to the table, I decided to put together what has become a rather massive drop-down menu featuring all of these activities and specialties. And since people tend to refer to them by different names, you will likely find plenty of overlap and considerable cross-referencing, wherever appropriate. Of course, if you have specific questions about any of this, please don’t hesitate to ask me.
